August 25, 1913 Filippo Trani arrived in the US, at Ellis Island with $20 in his pocket.  The 18 year old from the island of Ichia, off the central coast of Italy, headed west settling in San Pedro.   After years of farming, fishing and hard work, he opened the Majestic Cafe in 1925.

In 1937 Filippo’s 13 year old son Jim joined him at the Majestic Café in what would become the Trani culinary tradition; passed from father to son, for over seventy five years.  Almost 90 years later the fourth generation of Tarni’s carries on the tradition, at J Trani’s.  Stop by and join us sometime.

With Great Appreciation for all of San Pedro,
